Dr. Marcus is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Electrophysiology Section and Director of Clinical Research for the Division of Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco. After completing his internship, residency, and Chief Residency in internal medicine at Stanford, Dr. Marcus came to UCSF to complete his general cardiology and electrophysiology training.
As part of an NIH-funded career development award, he completed a two year Masters of Advanced Studies degree in clinical research at UCSF and has gone on to publish more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles. He has also received grants from the American Heart Association for his ongoing work.
In addition to his research and mentoring activities, Dr. Marcus has an active faculty practice in cardiac electrophysiology and regularly performs pacemaker, biventricular, and implantable cardioverter device implantations as well as ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia.
During all these activities, Dr. Marcus supervises and teaches UCSF electrophysiology and cardiology fellows as well as medical students, interns and residents. Finally, as a recognized expert in the evaluation and treatment of arrhythmias, he frequently gives talks at national scientific meetings and continuing medical education (CME) conferences for cardiologists and primary care physicians.
